Carrot halwa is a very popular Indian and Pakistani pudding that is made with fresh carrots, sugar, butter, and nuts. It’s popular during Ramadan and Eid and it almost always makes an appearance at weddings.
This gajrela recipe is incredibly easy. I mean, the hardest part of this recipe is probably grating the carrots! I know you can get pre-grated carrots, but I don’t really see the point.
I know grating fresh carrots can sometimes seem tedious, but the ones that are already grated are so hard and dry. You save only a few minutes of time, and it just doesn’t seem worth it.
I always use whole-fat milk, but you could use low-fat or semi-skimmed milk if you want to reduce the calories. However, this is meant to be a dessert so go on just treat yourself! I love milk desserts and I have a wide variety of recipes from that category ranging from milk seviyan to kheer to falooda.
